Installation instructions for Openings Studio

Before you begin, download Openings Studio.

Note: These instructions are for the full application on Windows computers, including the Revit plugins.

Steps for installation:

1. If you use Revit, please close the program before you begin.
    
2. Double-click on the downloaded executable file to launch it.
        -   Check the Downloads folder if you cannot find it.
    
3. If your computer requires an Admin password, it will come up next and may be required before proceeding.
    
4. Follow the prompts in the Setup Wizard and click Next to move through the steps.
    
5. If you have Revit installed on your computer, the installer should recognize the versions you have and pre-select them for you. Click Next.
    
6. Wait for the installer to complete. This only takes a few minutes.
   • There are two common errors that can happen at this point and we have included how to resolve both issues should they occur. Wait until the current installation is complete before attempting.
            -  DirectX did not install properly: How to manually install DirectX 9.
                 -  This does require admin rights and can be done without logging in.
            -  Revit was not found for one or more versions: How to manually install Revit plugins.
                -   This does not require admin rights, however you will need an Openings Studio login.
      
7. The installer will ask to create a desktop shortcut. Make your selection and click Next.
    
8. Once the installation is complete, you can choose to run Openings Studio immediately upon clicking Finish.  If you de-select it, you can launch Openings Studio later from your computer Start Menu, or your Revit plugin, if applicable.
    
9. The first time that Openings Studio is launched, it will download the latest update from the server.
    

If you are new to Openings Studio and do not have a login:

1. ASSA ABLOY employees will need to reach out to support for setup.
    
2. All other users (e.g. architects, contractors, owners, etc.) will need to register.
