Get ready to change the game with latest performance improvements
There are so many good things to say about this release. We are always working to improve Openings Studio from release to release, this time we focused on some long-standing features such as Plan Views and improving the speed of analysing 3D projects.
Plan views have been changed. We are no longer going to analyse them. Instead we have made a brand new view that will work much like plan views did. There's also a great new feature in Revit 2022 that's going to ease the burden of architects making PDFs. Analysing 3D projects is faster. Best of all, performance in the application has been improved too.
This is not the end of speed improvements. I know that the ability to work better and more efficiently is a huge priority to many, but I hope you enjoy what we've done so far.

New features:
Speed Improvements in Analyze Wizard
Going forward with this release, Plan Views will no longer be analyzed on 3D projects. We have retired this feature. Plan View selections in the Analyze Wizard will only be made to collect door swing lines for the 3D and 2D view. The bonus? Analyzing will be faster!
Note: Projects containing old Plan Views will still have those views. Only newly analyzed projects will not.
New 2D View
A new view has been added to the Visualizer tab on 3D projects ... a "2D" view! This new view shows openings from the top down. While some perspective is still visible, and orbit can still be used, the opening you have selected will automatically show the door at plan-like angle.
Create PDFs during analysis
In Revit 2022, Autodesk has introduced a great new feature... the ability to make PDFs without using the print function. The best part? We're able to tap into this new feature and make PDFs during analyze too. A new tab has been added to the Analyze Wizard called Sheets and anything selected here will be turned into a PDF! No time is added to the analysis process.
Future Feature: Revit 2022 and future releases will have this functionality.
Analyze load process speed improvement
This change is a significant quality of life improvement for architects analyzing large 3D projects. We've increased the speed of the load process that happens at the end of an analyze. While this change will vary project-to-project, architects analyzing large projects may see as much as a five times faster load process at the end. We also tweaked the way the screen loads, so an architect may continue working in Revit once this screen begins. Archicad projects have a different load process, but this will see an improvement as well!
Send to Consultant button relocated
The Send to Consultant button, usually used by architects and formally located next to the Door & Frame Schedule tab, has been relocated to a button on the toolbar.
Note: This button is permission based and you may not see it on your login.
Deleting old projects changed
Tired of waiting to login into Openings Studio while it deletes old projects? Wait no more! Projects will now delete in the background and you will be able to login right away. This screen may still pop-up briefly, but will disappear after a few seconds.
Automatic cursor in Quick Set
This change will save you a click if you are specification writer! The cursor will now automatically be active in the filter bar when you launch Quick Set.
PDF Editor Annotation tools relocated
The ability to edit annotations has been moved under the Hand tool in the PDF toolbar for easier selection.
Helpful Tip! If your fly out menu won't open, click in white space and then move your mouse back over the icon to get the menu.
Find pins across multiple pages
A new feature has been added to find pins that you dropped on PDFs with multiple pages. Under the Add Pin, a new button for Find Pin has been added. Click on it to search multiple pages when selecting openings.
Future Feature: A speed improvement for the search is targeted for the next release.
Door & Frame Schedule pin coordination
Clicking on a pin in the PDF will now automatically jump to the opening in the Door & Frame Schedule for easier navigation between pins and openings.
Improved Openings Studio-to-Procore integration
Previously, we released an integration with Procore that allowed punch list items to be exported to a spreadsheet and imported into Procore.
In this release, we have an exciting direct integration into Procore! Users can now export directly from within Openings Studio to their Procore project. The export will be listed under the Export button.
Note: Permission to export to Procore is required, in addition to a Procore account.
Pricing adjustments to database products
Pricing adjustments are now available for individual products entered in the price books, including products that have a price of 0.
Branded specification headers
The specifications used by ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems now have new headers on the specification documents. The ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems business descriptor will be displayed on all divisional specification material.
To populate the header correctly, add Project Name, as well as complete the project city, state, and architect on the Details screen.
A new library section has been added to the Home screen and Hamburger menu. This new section will grow over time, but in this release, it will contain automatic door families. These families were created independent of Openings Studio and we are now able to host them with this new feature.
Note: Currently, this will only display in the Americas.
