2020 is a big year for us, as it’s the 10th anniversary for Openings Studio in the US. In that time, more than 15,000 users around the world have created over 100,000 projects on our award-winning platform.

But, software alone doesn’t make for an award-winning program. It takes a dedicated team to design, develop and support the tool. That’s why we’re highlighting the global support teams behind Openings Studio in this release. Sam Light, EMEA Openings Studio support manager for ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions EMEA, shares how support helps to grow the core on Avenue.

New markets and divisions are adopting Openings Studio. South Africa has been testing and will launch to external users this month. Recently, ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems - US underwent training for 2D integration.

New features 

• Notifications added for long-running reports. Don't wait around for reports. A new notification system will let you know when reports are generating and available for download.
• Mouse-enabled navigation added to the Visualizer. These new shortcuts will feel familiar for Revit® power users. Use the mouse wheel to pan, orbit and zoom around in 3D View. 
• Rotate Project North added to Viewing Options in Building View. Do you have a Revit® project that’s off-axis? If the architect designated the project north in Revit®, easily rotate a project north in Viewing Options while in Building View. 
• Product line added in Hardware Search screen. Quickly view product line information with a new Product line column.
• Add install price to Custom Hardware screen. Need to add installation pricing information to custom hardware? A new column is now available for install price.
• Add new net price for products. Adjust pricing information on products. (Not all users have this feature. If you would like to use it and do not have access, contact your Openings Studio Consultant)
• Automatic cursor in search fields, now search directly in the Door & Frame Schedule without having to click into the search bar.
• Notification alert for when no reports are selected. Openings Studio will now alert you if try to create a report without having selected options to output. 
• Crash recovery notice informs users of updated project information. Openings Studio will now let you know if a project is newer than the one that it is trying to recover. No additional steps are needed, unless information appears to be incorrect. If help is needed, go to the Help options in the Hamburger menu and select “Contact Support" to generate a service request.
• Automatically search for Views containing selected elements error has been resolved. Automatically searching for doors in different plan views was previously throwing an error that has been resolved. 
• New check-box for Windstorm projects. A check-box has been added in the Details screen under Reporting to assist in helping tracking Windstorm projects. This information has been added to the SpecTRAK reports. Note: The Green/LEED check-box is also sent to SpecTRAK.
• Adjustment to project Ratings. An additional category, Open (institutional) has been added to the project Ratings drop-down on the Details screen under Reporting. Please review this drop-down when re-finalizing projects that were a 3 or higher for accuracy.
• Finalizing only the Details screen for previous revisions. In 3.5, the ability to re-finalize just the Details screen of a project was introduced if the project was previously finalized. This functionality only worked if the most recent revision was finalized and has now been updated to work if previous versions of the project were finalized as well.
